wow.
scathing. i haven't had the chance to sit down with the entire album so i've only heard a few songs (which seemed alright - but I kinda got tired of what i felt to be the arrogance of Islands/Thorburn a while ago and stopped paying really close attention) and haven't been able to form an opinion on it. I certainly wouldn't have expected such a reaction to this, though. Now I'm not sure if i want to listen to it (ah who am i kidding - now i am even more curious - to see how big of a train wreck it is)
None of the tracks sound too awful if heard away from the rest of the album; put it in sequence and it sounds like 'Smile' turned upside down.
if the unicorns had half the musical talent islands has, they would still exist, but guess what? they don't! so stop lingering on past lo-fi puke bands.
They didn't break up because they were lacking talent...they broke up because they hated each other. And I don't think "lo-fi puke" is a very good description of The Unicorns...
