I don't know. I think it's a tough sell to claim you don't like an artist and probably many of the styles/tones she draws from, and then dismiss this record so easily. I mean, if you don't think you will like something going in... you probably would need a miracle to change you opinion?
More so than any of her releases, I think this one is one that needs a lot of listens to critique, but it shows her really stretching her boundaries and comfort zone. I also think it's the perfect intro to Neko, because she really melds a lot of her past into the record. I'm biased the other way, as I love her work, but I think this one already stands up against her other efforts. In a few months, I'd guess it will stand above.
Neko's last two albums have so many layers that you really have to give it multiple listens in different settings to truly be able to judge it. Personally those art the types of artists I love.
