Oh man, that sucks to have missed Arcade Fire in their early days. I can't imagine what it would have been like to have been able to see them as an opening act. I always try to get to concerts in time to see the openers because you just never know...
it's coincidental that you happened to post this session this week as I went back to the sessions earlier in the week and started listening to this one. I spent a fair amount of time trying to track down burning touch (thought it was torch?) as it isn't on any of the studio albums. Just got released last year on an asthmatic kitty comp ('Mews 2', I believe) although it may very have seen an earlier release as a b-side on a single maybe. Not sure if that is the case as i didn't follow the band extensively in the day. Anyways, unwilling to buy the comp at this point I was more than happily relieved to see you had put the session up. Now I can take it with me wherver I go. Yeah. Absolutely fell in love with that track. Rest of the session is good, but damn if that song doesn't burn ya.
dammit, I wrote a longish post yesterday, but it disappeared somewhere into cyberspace.
The point was that I was saying thanks for the RC show and to let you know I dug out one of my own...
Sorry about that! The fault was totally mine...I just forgot to approve it...
hey dude.
i still go into R3's flash archive site of their old sessions, and this Royal City session is one my favs. I'm glad you ripped the audio, but for some reason the mix sounds weird. the guitar is blaring a little too loudly. just sayin's. talk soon!
anyone know where I can get these tracks? The links don't seem to be working. Please, please help!
HEY! i saw that show in Mtl as well !! [t was on my birthday] and it was a pretty fun show,,, although i went there to see Royal City, i was BLOWN away by the arcade fire, and have yet to recover!
I also saw one of Royal City's last shows in London Uk, and met Jim Guthrie on the street! Something was up with Aaron and the show lacked something [perhaps an interested audience] as world cup football was on all the Tv sets i'd hate to compare Aarons wife to Yoko Ono!! but maybe its her fault why they quit? i mean who gets a Theology degree and quits rock and roll???? WHO!!
My band actually opened that show in Ottawa, and yes, best show ever!
I saw RC a long time ago open for Howie Beck at the Mermaid Lounge on Hess Street in Hamilton. I went to see Howie but feel in love with RC. I agree who quits Rock & Roll for anything!?!? I wish they would play a few reunion shows...I'm missing Three Gut Records in General this week.
